"Years ago I found an old SD card containing hundreds of photos from 2000-2005, all taken by my parents. My artwork since has been inspired by these images. I'm really intrigued and sort of emotionally invested in the way our perception of our own memories is so unreliable and impressionable. When I dig through these photos, I can't help but find connections within them - both emotional associations and congruencies to my adult life. I take these images, which are objectively factual and reliable representations of events from that time, and alter them physically through painting and layering and combining to reflect those associations and interconnectivity. I try to make them representative of the way I perceive these childhood memories. My 3D artworks stem from the same sources of inspiration. They're an attempt to make tangible, functional (although often impractical) objects in the image of or representative of memories related to that object's form. At it's core really, making art to me is about problem solving. It's about asking 'How can I turn this idea of an image or this feeling into something tangible that will resonate with other people?'"
